You have, yet do not want.
You want, yet do not need.
You need, yet do not have.
It's a vicious cycle and is evident only in humans.
- Wendell
Being almost the same genetically with other animals,
our behavior is what sets us apart. That is what makes us unique. That is what allows us to evolve and advance. If we were
like ants, we would have never become what we are today. Our population would increase till we eventually starve ourselves
to death.
Einstein, Washington and countless others molded
the world to be what it is today. Without their dream and ambition, there will be no progress. In a way, we are bestowed with
everything. Our knowledge enables us to emulate superior traits of lesser species and advance to new frontiers. And with
genetics, we could push ourselves to extremes never thought possible.
But Mother Nature is cruel, and she cursed us with greed and fear. For it is
the only way to stop our brilliance from outshining hers. Behavior sprouted from those cursed roots, made us selfish and work
against each other when it should have been the opposite.
Mother Nature has dealt us a hand that we could neither refuse nor accept. She
has placed us on a scale so well balanced that we have no chance of tipping. Maybe that is what was meant to be after all.
Maybe that's why we are who we are.
