Ingredients:
5 slices Bacon
rind
5 leaves Cabbage
4 stalks Celery
1 Carrot
1 Potato
1 Large onion
3 tbsp Soy
sauce
4 tbsp Water
Preparation:
- Heat up a skillet and space the bacon evenly on
the surface when hot.
- Cut the carrot and potatoes into strips of ½ cm
x ½ cm.
- Slice the onion and separate them into rings.
- For the celery, cut them about 1 cm thick, starting
from the base.
- Wash and chop the cabbage into strips of ½ cm x
3 cm.
- After the bacon has crisped, strain and remove
from the skillet.
- Pour in the vegetables and fry, tossing frequently,
for about 3 minutes.
- Dilute the soy sauce with the water and pour it
into the vegetable mixture.
- Cover and leave to simmer in low flame.
- Cut the bacon into strips of about ½ cm thick.
- When the vegetables have softened, transfer them
to a serving plate.
- Sprinkle a generous serving of the bacon onto the
vegetables and serve.
Comments:
- Using bacon gives more flavour to the dish, however, other meats could be used instead.
- Other non leafy types of vegetables could also be used. Some (like long beans) require a longer time to soften, so it
would be advisible to soak them in boiling water for about 5 minutes before adding them to the rest of the vegetables.
